Product Overview

Counter shaft sprocket, fits TT250 or the SG250. 428 chain size. We recommend replacing your chain if you are going to switch your sprocket.

The 16 tooth drive sprocket is a popular accessory for the SG250 cafe racer motorcycle. It gives you more top end speed at the expense of torque and acceleration. The 16 tooth drive sprocket replaces the stock 15 tooth sprocket, and it is easy to install with some basic tools. However, you should know that changing the sprocket size affects the chain length and tension. That’s why we recommend purchasing and installing a new 428x120 link chain with the sprocket. You will also need to remove some links from the chain to fit your bike properly. Don’t worry, we have a helpful YouTube video that shows you how to do it step by step. Just follow the link below and enjoy your upgraded SG250!

The TT250 stock front sprocket size is 17 tooth, this drive sprocket will work on the TT250 but we recommend changing the rear sprocket first. For more information on sprocketing your TT250 see our write-up here: TT250 49T Sprocket Installation

    Worth the Upgrade

Posted by Terry on Nov 24th 2022

I purchased the sprocket and the chain for about $75.00 (including shipping and such). Everything install in less than an hour. What a difference! The taller gearing allows this little 239cc engine to ease into the 50 to 55 mph range with seeming to scream at you. You aren't going to break a 100 mph with this upgrade, but you will find a more relaxed ride at the 45 to 55 mph range. A few tools and an understanding of wrenching will allow you to easily complete this upgrade. You will be grateful that you did.

    Front Sprocket and Chain upgrade

Posted by Simon on Jul 4th 2022

My SG250 was already a bang for your buck motorcycle. I rode it for 5 months stock and finally pulled the trigger on the sprocket and chain, a $60 upgrade that you can actually feel. I was extremely thrilled I was smiling my whole shake down ride. I was averaging 60-62 as my standard cruise. Now I am averaging 65-67 comfortably with a top speed of 76mph (phone gps). It’s not even the top speed for me it’s the smoother gear change and more efficient between gears. Most definitely worth the upgrade. Go ahead and make the move towards this upgrade.
